Dear Jensen Students and Families!
A warm welcome to all of you as we begin the 2019-20 school year! As I enter my 7th year as principal for the Urbandale Community School District, I continue to be so impressed with our charismatic, passionate, and knowledgeable staff. We are dedicated to our students by helping them feel safe and secure as a learner, making them feel special each day then they come to school, and believing that they can learn at high levels!
At Jensen Elementary, our school mission and vision is “Believe. Lead. Encourage.” I genuinely believe that one of the most vital parts of having a great school is having committed, dedicated, and caring parents and families – that’s all of you! Reaching success is a collaborative and team effort where parents and families are full partners in their student’s educational process.
Each one of our staff members at Jensen Elementary is passionate about working with elementary-level students and truly enjoys this age group. We provide unique Responsive Classroom Approach and Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) programming, which places an equal emphasis on academic, social-emotional, and behavioral skill building and success. This year, your child will make new friends, learn so much academically, work collaboratively with their peers, and engage in activities that are purposeful, relevant, and rigorous.
A great way to start the journey of the 2019-20 school year is to have a conversation with your child about their hopes and dreams for their school year! The more you are able to communicate the importance of school your child, the more school will become important to them. Together, we get to share in their love for learning, excitement for experiencing new things, and we get to walk together with them on their learning journey. I am proud to have all of you as a part of our school family!
