ALL ABOUT ME
The 2017-2018 school year is going to be outstanding year of learning and fun.
I knew I wanted to be a teacher in 4th grade. I have enjoyed every a minute of it. It is the most rewarding thing I have done in my life. I graduated with my teaching degree from UNI and taught 3rd grade in intercity Houston for three years. I returned to Iowa and went to Grandview and received my Special Education degree and started teaching at Olmsted. I taught special education, 3rd grade and 5th grade before transferring to Jensen to teach 4th grade. It is amazing to be returning to Olmsted that has always felt like home.
My free time is very busy spending time with my family and friends. I have five beautiful nieces that still like to come and visit even though 4 of them are now in college. I like to travel and visit my cousins during the summer.
If I am not trying to get housework done you will usually find me reading a book. I try and get all my reading done in the summer so I can read new and interesting children’s books during the school year.
I also enjoy walking with friends in the mornings. Exercise is something I enjoy. Not many people say that I know. I did my 1st half marathon in Disneyland. I am not a runner, but I love to walk. I walked the 13 miles in just under three hours. So I can walk pretty fast. I like to walk 4-6 miles a day in the summer listening to a book on tape. I find it very relaxing.
I am so excited to be teaching at Olmsted. After 26 years of teaching no two years have been the same and I would not want it any other way.
