About Me
This will be my 13th year working as a reading interventionist and my 2nd year as a math interventionist for the Urbandale Community School District. I feel very honored to teach in the community where I grew up. I attended Olmsted as a kindergartener, then Rolling Green for the remainder of my elementary career and I am a proud Urbandale alum. I always wanted to be a teacher growing up and I’ve been working with young children since I was 14.
In addition to my Elementary Education degree from Grand View University, I also have endorsements in Reading and Language Arts and an AS degree in Early Childhood and an AA degree in Liberal Arts.
As an interventionist I have the privilege of helping students understand how to crack the code of all things literacy. Unlike language, reading is not something we learn naturally. And it comes easier to some than others. I am passionate about helping students learn how to navigate text so they can find meaning and joy in what they read.
When learning to read or understanding numerical concepts is difficult for a child, I provide them the knowledge and skills needed so they can experience success and reach their goals.
