349 – Administrative Personnel – Consulting/Outside Employment

Code No. 349

Administrative positions and supervisors are considered full-time employment during the months of contracted service.  The Board of Directors expects each administrative personnel and supervisor member to give the responsibilities of the position precedence over other employment or business ventures during such time.  An administrative personnel and supervisor member may accept consulting or outside employment for pay or enter into business ventures if the member first receives approval from the Superintendent and/or the Board of Directors, and as long as, in the judgment of the Superintendent and/or the Board, the work is conducted on personal time and does not interfere with the performance of District duties.  The Superintendent and/or the Board reserves the right, however, to require that an administrative personnel or supervisor member cease the outside employment or business venture as a condition of continued employment.  The Superintendent and/or the Board shall give at least thirty (30) days notice to cease outside employment or business venture.

Administrative personnel or supervisor members, with the approval of the Board, may undertake consultative work, speaking engagements, writing, lecturing, or other professional duties and obligations which require them to be absent from the District.
