540 – Student-Family Relationships

The Board of Directors recognizes that students are members of many types of families and that students may have parents who do not reside together or who do not reside with the students. Disagreements and concerns arise from time to time among students’ family members regarding custody and related issues. The Board believes that such concerns and disagreements are the responsibility of the family members to resolve. School employees should not be placed in the position of having to resolve or to “referee” such disagreements. It shall also be the responsibility of the family members to provide relevant written court orders to the District.
