637 – Student Progress Reporting

Responsibility. It shall be the responsibility of the classroom teacher, under the direction of the administration, to inform parents and guardians of the progress of the students.

Objectives. The objectives of a system of student progress reports shall be the following:

a. to keep parents and guardians informed of the progress made by their children.
b. to provide each child a record of his or her growth and achievement.
c. to assist students and staff in evaluating the students’ growth and achievement.
d. to assist in establishing a cooperative effort among students, parents and guardians, and the District personnel.

Procedures. The following procedures shall be implemented to meet the objectives of the system of student progress reports:

a. student progress reports shall be issued at least three times per school year, as determined by the building principal.
b. family-teacher conferences shall be scheduled regularly.
c. each building shall develop a system of communication with parents.

Form. The administration shall develop a form for reporting student progress for each grade level and shall recommend a form or forms to the Board for approval.
