Important Update Regarding Student Lunch/Breakfast Account BalancesCreated on July 18th, 2017
As we welcome Rolling Green Elementary students on Thursday, July 27th for the 2017–2018 school year, and welcome all other Urbandale CSD students on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, we’d like to make a request of families to please check your student’s school lunch/breakfast account balance to ensure your student has money available in her/his account if he/she will be purchasing school meals. Balances left in your student’s lunch account at the end of the 2016–17 school year have been carried over to this school year. (Graduating seniors with funds remaining in their accounts were transferred to siblings or issued a refund.)
The USDA has issued regulations mandating that school districts implement unpaid meal policies by the start of the 2017–18 school year. Please review the updated Board Policy 702 A regarding student lunch account balances (Board Policy 702 A Meal Charges in Spanish; 702 A Board Policy Meal Charges in Bosnian). This information was also recently sent to all families via postal mail and will likely be arriving in your mailbox the week of July 24, 2017.
We know children and adults function better when provided with nutritious meals on a regular basis. We want to make sure every student receives lunch during the school day, so please make sure to review the updated policy and provide timely payments to fund your student’s lunch/breakfast account.
