Join Us In Celebrating National Principals Month Throughout October 2017

“Leadership is communicating others’ worth and potential so clearly that they are inspired to see it in themselves.”  – Stephen R. Covey

October is National Principals Month and the Urbandale Community School District is grateful and fortunate to have such outstanding leaders, partners, and advocates in education throughout all of our schools.  It is an understatement to say that our Principals and Associate Principals go to extraordinary lengths to ensure students, families, teachers, and staff members feel seen, heard, and valued every day. Quite often, Principals are the first to arrive at school and the last to leave…and even then it may simply be to continue working while at home.

Yet when asked why they choose to work in a profession that often finds them facing more challenges than opportunities, they will share about the student who just yesterday overcame a tough situation, a teacher who inspired a class to volunteer in the community, an associate who became a mentor for a student in need, and a parent who may speak another language but still deeply knows that his/her child is being cared for by the most dedicated and welcoming staff on the planet.

Most likely, our Principals will not want this article shared about them as they would much rather have an article being shared about the great things their students, staff, and families are doing. Even so…please take a moment this month to give a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to your Principal(s). Our schools are stronger because of their leadership. #ThankAPrincipal
