Successful State Tournament For Urbandale High School Mock Trial Teams

Three Urbandale High School (UHS) Mock Trial teams—Novus, SUITS, and Veritas—competed against 105 teams in the Mock Trial Regional Tournament in order to become one of only 32 teams from across the state to qualify for the final three rounds of the State Tournament. Following tough competition at regionals, Team Novus and Team SUITS advanced to the 2017 High School Mock Trial State Tournament that took place March 27-29, 2017, at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines. Team Novus took 9th place…falling in the very last round to the defending national champions, with Team SUITS, who welcomed two new freshman members into their roster this year, placing 10th…falling in the very last round to the state champions.

Urbandale Community School District congratulates these students for their time, dedication, and effort in preparing for regionals, advancing to state, and bringing home trophies in a competition that is becoming increasingly competitive year after year. Team Novus, SUITS, and Veritas have all achieved significant accomplishments through their Mock Trial experience by continually improving their problem solving, critical thinking, group collaboration, and effective communication skills that will serve them well now and in the future.
