We’d like to inform you about a staffing update at the high school. Our previous candidate for the Dean of Students position had to withdraw his candidacy for personal reasons, which opened up the position again for prospective candidates. We’re pleased to introduce you to our new Urbandale High School Dean of Students who will provide additional support for UHS students and staff. Beginning August 1st, Casey Goodhue will join the UHS Administrative Team as the new Dean of Students working with last names L–Z.
Over the past 15 years, Mr. Goodhue has served as a Vice Principal and Dean of Students in Des Moines Public Schools. His role included providing support for students, fostering a positive culture and climate, leading professional development, and working alongside staff to continually improve instruction. Mr. Goodhue is a certified Crisis Prevention Intervention Instructor, Level 1 Investigator, and Bullying and Harassment Investigator. Prior to joining Des Moines Public Schools, he served as a Math and Science teacher in the Indianola and Carlisle School Districts. Mr. Goodhue earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education with endorsements in math, science, and coaching from Simpson College and a Master of Science in Education Leadership from Drake University.
