About Me

Please bring reading material (book, magazine, newspaper, eBook, etc.) the first day of school!

I am celebrating my tenth year of teaching this year! My entire career has been at Urbandale Middle School and I take great pride in my job, the community and the goals of the district.

The first two years of my career were spent teaching Language Arts and Social Studies. The next five years were spent teaching Math and Science. This year, I will be teaching the Literacy Block for my third year. I am very excited about the opportunity to teach reading, writing, speaking, listening and viewing.

I make an effort to attend dances and other sporting events whenever I can. I value seeing students express their talents in non-academic ways.

I have returned to school several times; education never ends! I earned my bachelor's degree in educaton and my master's in education leadership from Drake University. I recently earned my Talented and Gifted endorsement from Morningside College. Over the summer I took a class on bullying and completed the Qualtiy Learning training.

I have been married for ten years and have two children. My son, Cory, is eight years old and going into second grade. My daughter, Amber, is 5 and starting Kindergarden this year. We enjoy camping and going to the pool in the summer. During the rest of the year, we enjoy watching movies and playing board games.

I am looking forward to another exciting year of learning at Urbandale Middle School.
