Tech Talk: April 2017 Keeping U Updated

Take An 18 Minute TED Break

Technology has introduced us to world-wide perspectives, challenges, ideas, and solutions that even 30 years ago weren’t nearly as accessible or even considered a possibility. Perhaps one of the most well-known platforms is TED. As shared on the TED site, TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics—from science to business to global issues—in more than 100 languages. Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world—including right here in Des Moines.

If you haven’t had a chance to explore TED yet, we suggest starting with a few of the 25 most popular TED Talks of all time. Some of these TED Talks have been viewed more than 44 million times—TED’s tag line of “Ideas worth spreading” is most definitely spot on. So when you’re seeking new insights, or want to learn more about a topic you know nothing about, or are needing confirmation that you’re not the only one, or need a boost of creative energy to get your wheels turning again, consider taking an 18-minute (or less) TED break—you just might learn something that sparks your creative genius to reach the next level.
