Face Masks Optional In UCSD Schools; Still Required On School Bus
  • 5/20/21 Update: On May 20, 2021, Governor Reynolds signed HF 847 into law. One of the components of this law is that both public and accredited nonpublic schools are prohibited from mandating masks; this is effective immediately. In compliance with the law, the Urbandale Community School District has removed the mask mandate. Students and staff may continue to have the option to wear a face covering / mask at any time in our schools. At this time, students riding on school buses provided by Durham Transportation are required to wear a face covering / mask. Because of a Presidential Executive Order on domestic transportation, we will be following this guidance at this time. Should we receive additional guidance, we will notify families immediately. Thank you for your continued cooperation.

Remote Classroom (all online instruction)
  • Interested in learning more about Remote Classroom for your elementary student(s)? Check out the video below which features members of our Remote Classroom Elementary Team sharing what you need to know!

Similar to our first semester, Urbandale CSD families can choose to have their child(ren) learn remotely (all online) for the second semester within the “Remote Classroom” instructional model. Families only need to complete this survey if they wish to CHANGE the instructional delivery model in which their child(ren) will participate for the second semester (i.e. either opt-out or opt-in to Remote Classroom).

Example 1: Opt-Out of Remote Classroom
If your child(ren) is currently participating in Remote Classroom (all online), they will continue to stay enrolled in Remote Classroom for the second semester unless you complete a form included below requesting a change to opt-out of Remote Classroom.

Example 2: Opt-In To Remote Classroom
If your child(ren) is currently attending school in person and you would like to enroll your child in Remote Classroom (all online) for the second semester, please complete a form included below requesting a change to opt-in to Remote Classroom. (Note: If you Opt-In to Remote Classroom for the second semester, your child(ren) will learn all online for the second semester regardless of the instructional delivery model the district is operating in at any given time.)

If you would like to CHANGE your child(ren)’s instructional delivery model for the second semester (spring 2021), please review the following information and then complete the survey form below.

  • The spring semester begins on January 19, 2021 and lasts until the end of the school year.
  • Survey form responses are due by 11:59 p.m. Monday, December 7, 2020. The reason for this deadline is to provide Urbandale CSD staff the time needed to make necessary schedule changes, teacher assignments, transportation arrangements, and room assignments to accommodate requests from families.
  • Your instructional delivery model decision will be in effect from January 19, 2021 through the remainder of the school year.
  • We’d like to emphasize that 11:59 p.m. December 7 is a firm deadline. Requests made after this date may not be able to be accommodated.
  • Please complete one form per child.
