Meet the Candidates Virtual Forums

We welcome all students, families, staff, and community members to attend our virtual “Meet the Candidate Forums” taking place from 5:00 p.m. – 5:50 p.m. on December 16, 17, and 18. Each Forum will host one finalist candidate who is applying for the role of Superintendent of Schools. The Forums will be virtual via Zoom Webinar (500 max capacity) and will also be shared via the District’s YouTube Channel.

As the format for the Forums will not be interactive, stakeholders were given the opportunity to submit prospective questions that they’d like asked during the Forum. We received a total of 30 questions last week. Those questions were grouped into themes/categories and then consolidated for a final set of 10 questions that will be shared in advance with candidates. Each candidate will respond to the same set of questions that will be asked by a facilitator. The facilitator for Wednesday, December 16 and Thursday, December 17 will be Urbandale Chamber of Commerce President Tiffany Menke. The facilitator for Friday, December 18 will be UCSD Director of Teaching and Learning Dr. Crista Carlile.

Forum Schedule

Final Steps in Superintendent Search Process

Following each Meet the Candidate Forum, the School Board will also meet via Closed Session with each finalist candidate in order to conduct second-round finalist interviews.

The Board will then hold one final Closed Session Board Meeting on Sunday, December 20 in order to select a candidate for Superintendent of Schools. Announcing the next Superintendent is expected to take place on Monday, December 21, 2020.

Thank you for your engagement throughout this process. We’re looking forward to a great week ahead!
