Valerius Elementary Last Day of School Assembly & Talent Show

Valerius Elementary students, parents, and staff were greatly entertained during the all-school assembly and 5th Grade Talent Show on the last day of school. Principal Michelle Cole kicked off the celebration by recognizing all Valerius teachers and staff, presenting awards to students for checking out the most books from the library this year, recognizing student leaders, and recognizing students participating in choir and band. It was the first all-school assembly for many students as the last time was three years ago. Needless to say, students were incredibly excited to be gathered together as a school community for this special assembly.

Following the awards and recognition, festivities continued with Valerius fifth grade students showcasing their talents which included: a flute solo, acting out a skit, drawing a profile picture, piano solos, a trombone duet, a guitar solo, a clarinet duet, a trumpet solo, dancers, and a singer. Students were attentive during each performance and gave rounds of applause at the conclusion of each student sharing their talent.

All of the performances were exceptional; however, one particular moment stood out which was a comment by a Valerius student in the audience to a performer. The performer was doing a beautiful piano solo and needed to restart a few times in order to get it just right. In doing so, there were a few pauses and the gymnasium full of students fell silent. It was during one of those quiet moments when we heard a peer in the audience gently say, “You’ve got it… you can do it.” The student performer then started the musical piece again and made it all the way through—doing a sensational job!

Not only was the Valerius all-school assembly and talent show a fun-filled morning for students, parents, and staff, but it served as a touching reminder how helpful an encouraging word can be. Thank you to our Valerius students for demonstrating such compassion, empathy, and grace. Well-done! #ValeriusPride
