Community Betterment Grant provides school supplies to Karen Acres students

Prairie Meadows recently awarded the Karen Acres Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) a Community Betterment Grant totaling $5,000. The grant has helped to provide a portion of the school supplies needed for the 2025-2026 school year to the students attending Karen Acres Elementary School in the Urbandale Community School District.

Karen Acres PTO President, Stacia Zink stated, “The Karen Acres PTO is excited to partner with Prairie Meadows to help provide vital school supplies and ensure that the children at Karen Acres are afforded every opportunity to learn and grow. Purchasing school supplies can be an economic strain for families within our school community. It is essential that our students can focus on learning and having fun at school, and not the concerns of whether they have the necessary supplies.”

The $5,000 grant has allowed the Karen Acres PTO to purchase bulk quantities of pencils, crayons, markers, glue sticks, headphones, and other supplies, thereby reducing the cost of items that families need to provide for their students. An event was recently held at the school to sort the supplies for each student to be ready for the first day of classes.
