Ted Brimeyer is currently in his ninth year as Vocal Music Director at Urbandale High School. Mr. Brimeyer directs Urbandale Singers and the 100-voice Concert Choir. He also directs Studio, the championship varsity show choir. Choirs under his direction have earned numerous Division I ratings at State Large Group Choral Festival. Additionally, Urbandale Singers’ success has been recognized the past eight years with invitations to present solo programs for the 2016 North Central Division Conference of the American Choral Directors Association in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the 2017 Iowa Choral Showcase in Pella, the 2018 Dorian Vocal Festival at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and the 2019 National American Choral Directors Association Conference in Kansas City, Missouri.
Mr. Brimeyer completed a Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from Michigan State University in 2010. He graduated with distinction from Iowa State University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Music Education, minoring in German. He has studied conducting with David Rayl, Jonathan Reed, and James Rodde. His voice teachers include Molly Fillmore and Donald Simonson.
Cooking, being outdoors, and playing with children Malley, Saffi, and August and dog Remy are among his favorite pastimes. He looks forward to any opportunity to travel with his beautiful wife, Elyse.
