School registration for the 2024–2025 school year opens MARCH 1st! Log into your Powerschool Parent Portal to register your student(s) online.
Please review the following information for registering your child for school in the Urbandale Community School District. We know this is a busy time of year for students and families. Thank you in advance for taking time to register your student(s). We’re looking forward to welcoming your child(ren) and family this fall!
Preschool Students
Preschool Pre-Registration opened January 30, 2024. Click here to review detailed Preschool Pre-Registration Information for the 2024–2025 school year. Please Note: Preschool Pre-Registration will not only pre-register your student, but will play a key role in determining facility and programming needs for the 2024–2025 school year. Pre-registering your student does not guarantee your student a spot in the Urbandale Preschool Program. Once all facility and programming decisions are confirmed, you will be contacted regarding your acceptance into the Urbandale Preschool Program by April 12, 2024.
K-12 Returning Students
Kindergarten through 12th grade student registration for the 2024–25 school year begins online March 1, 2024. We’re excited to share our new online school registration system as it will make registration more efficient and convenient. You’ll find detailed instructions for registering your returning student(s) by visiting: urbandaleschools.com/register
K-12 New Students
UCSD is comprised of four elementary schools, one middle school, one high school, and one alternative high school. We offer a comprehensive Preschool Program and Adventuretime Before/After School Childcare Program. Families with elementary students are given the choice to either attend their neighborhood elementary school or attend our year-round elementary school (see below). If your student(s) is new to UCSD, click here for specific information about registering your new student.
Year-Round Elementary School
One of the many things that makes Urbandale unique is the year-round elementary school found right in the heart of UCSD. Any family living within UCSD boundaries, or outside UCSD boundaries, can choose to attend our year-round school located at Karen Acres Elementary. Bus transportation is available anywhere within district boundaries outside of the Karen Acres walk zone. Learn more about our year-round program!
BUS TRANSPORTATION
To be on a bus route for the first day of school, UCSD needs to receive your completed bus request form no later than July 1st for Karen Acres and August 1st for all other schools. After that date, UCSD can still add your student for bus transportation, but the bus stop locations will be set; thus, students may have to walk farther to their bus stop and possibly wait several days before they can begin riding the bus.
