On Wednesday March 6, the K-5 English Learner (EL) students got to sit down and talk with Kay Fenton Smith, a CultureAll Ambassador. Kay co-authored the book Zakery’s Bridge with Carol Roh Spaulding. The book tells the immigration stories about children in Iowa. Kay also taught the children about what happens during Tai Dam New Year’s Festivals and let them play a game with “miniature dragons” known as Tot‐Cons. 

From this presentation the students will learn how to present their own cultures and where their families are from in a fun and interactive way on Tuesday, March 26th. The EL students have already started working on what sights, smells, or sounds they will share with the school. #KAPride #UBelongHere
