The Urbandale High School Academic Decathlon team earned Fifth Place at the Central Iowa Regional competition held on January 25-26, where they competed in academic events related to the theme Technology and Humanity. The Regional teams studied very challenging materials to test their academic strength in Art, Music, Literature, Economics, Science, Social Science, Math, Speech, and Interviews. UHS students will move on to compete at the State level, hosted at Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School on March 1-2. Any student can participate next year by enrolling in Academic Decathlon Class or joining the Academic Decathlon Club. Four individual awards went to three members of the team, which consisted of Natasha Mills (captain), Aiden Leiran, Cung Mang, Hailie Bonz, Cayden Feldotto, Muqadas Ibrahimi, Tyler Nguyen, Lilly Hill, Naomy Arechiga-Melendez, Yaritza Escareno, and Adriana Bustos-Laparra. Eleven.

• Adriana Bustos-Laparra: Silver in Literature & Bronze in Math
